My First Trumpeter Swans by terryliv

My First Trumpeter Swans

For some reason, I had heard of Tundra Swans and when I saw these, I thought that that is probably what they were.
Then I heard some flying overhead and they made a brassy honking noise and I thought they may have been Trumpeter Swans which I had definitely heard of.
After reading up on both species and seeing that Trumpeter Swans are very few in numbers, I presume that they are Tundra. Is that correct?
Identified as Trumpeter.
It was snowing when this was taken.
they look more like Trumpeter swans to me... I saw them in Yellowstone years ago...so I'm no expert.. The Tundra swan images I saw online seem to have a yellow patch near the base of the bill.
nice photo of them

A lovely shot, whatever they are :)

Agree with @hrs , trumpeters. I have seen both, and the yellow patch of a tundra should be visible in the adults.

Great shot for these birds who love to move, I know mine were Tundra since the sign said so hahahaha. They do have slight differences though.

I like how you've caught them with their mouths open -- they are such noisy creatures!

Do they sound like a trumpet?

@gigiflower More like a French Horn Sam. I believe the foxes run like hell when these swans fly over

@terryliv Mmm, will have to go to you tube and see what the differences are between a trumpet noise and a french horn!
