According to my bird bible, the species of crow/raven that we get in Brisbane is the Torresian Crow. But if it's black and it says Ark, Ark, Ark, its a crow as far as I'm concerned. LOL
Up until a couple of weeks ago, we never had a problem with crows. They would come in intermittently but our family of magpies made sure that they never hung around.
All that changed a couple of weeks ago when I put a tray of frozen cut up meat that we use for the Kookaburras, Magpies, Butcher Birds, on the window sill to thaw out.
When I came back an hour or so later, it had gone. I found it downstairs with the plastic bag ripped off and half the meat gone. The robbery had Crow written all over it.
Ever since then, it has been hanging around constantly. It thinks it has found the promised land. Bloody thing
Great capture and story. I hate crows and also magpies as they raid the nests and take the eggs or babies. The warning screeching of the blackbirds makes my blood run cold! The crows thankfully don’t often come to our garden but the magpies do. I send the boys out to chase them off! Lol!
@koalagardens According to my bird bible, they are most likely Torresian Crows although they may be Australian Ravens since you appear to be close their habitat also. Don't ask me what the difference is.
They are ark ark arking outside right now waiting for Kelvin to start the feed up and me to throw out the scraps. But they do love baby chickens too so not my favourite bird.
