Had another visit from the Pale Headed Rosella this afternoon. At first I tried another flight shot - impossible. Very shy and hard to get close: no warning as to when they are going to take off; when they do, very swift flyers. I then tried to get a shot from behind so you could see the colouring in his wings but as I moved around, he moved around also so he was always facing me. In the end I had to settle for a feeding shot that showed up his back. Note also the red tail
One other thing. The red on this guys head is quite unusual. His very close first cousin, the Eastern Rosella has a bright red head and I wonder if this guys red markings are a throwback to his ancestry.
