Continuing the Hong Kong travelogue. Hong Kong Trail is regarded by many as the best urban trail in the world. Starting from just a hop from Hong Kong Central, it goes for more than 8kms to Big Wave Bay with a change in elevation of 285 mtrs. Yesterday we did a 5km portion of the trail called Dragons Back with an elevation change of 235 mtrs and a distance of 5kms. It was pretty smoggy.
The photo details show that the pic was taken on 07 Feb but I had been playing with the camera and had not changed the date back. Trust me.
That's Nanna first with SoniainHK next an then son-in law with the boys in between
If you look at the Big Wave bay pic (01 Feb) part of the trail runs along the ridge behind the bay.
The first 2/3 of the trail was good with only a reasonable number of people on the trail. The last 1/3 was hilarious and like just about everywhere in HK, was choked with people and we seemed to be going in the opposite direction. Buses were disgorging trekkers at the start of the trail in their hundreds and the trail in many places came to a standstill on the vary narrow scrambling uphill sections. Many were wielding umbrellas with lethal intent.
They say time flies when you're on a trip, but I didn't think it could jump ahead that much.
Viewed large, the many hikers can be seen far down the trail.
@kporte@tahoemb@tracelee@tellefella Thanks - yes it was fun. When we started running into the hordes, it was very frustrating and annoying but then you could see the funny side of it.
