Being very lazy today and just used one of my bromeliads for todays subject. This one is one of my favourites, Vriesea "Kiwi Sunset". I have taken this photo at least half a dozen times so far in case nothing better came along but each time it has been bumped off the 365 list by something else. It's good to have these in reserve and on tap.
Poppo, this is gorgeous! I like how the frame is filled with the plant's colorful leaves. Maybe it's so large there's no other option but to fill the frame!
As for what I did to that Rural Abandon shot, I upped the highlights and shadows in Photoshop to give it an almost HDR look. (a trick learned from a little video tutorial on YTube) It was too cold and windy to stand around taking tripod pics for a true HDR so I cheated.
Really interesting Bromeliad - what unique markings - and the color is so pretty. I like the deep color on the tips and the composing is perfect. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who does the "reserve" shot - have one little weedy flower that's had its picture made weekly I believe.
