This pic is for @richardhoeg who, for those who follow him would know, had a fascination with crows for a couple of weeks mainly because crows and magpies were the only birds around. He then suggested a crow challenge and I have taken it up.
I used the flash on all the crow pics I took to try to get some reflections of the black eye so it would stand out and it appears to have worked a treat.
Another brilliant focus on the eye shot. A photographer friend of mine who does a lot of bird photos once said that if you focus on the eye the rest just falls into place and he would be right with this shot. Brilliant. You are first drawn to the eye and then to the beak to see the twig he is collecting.
A crow!! You have so many colourful birds - but I read your challenge with Richard so it's a fair deal!! Have a great time in Richard's country. Expecting some great photos :)
Great shot, including lots of feather detail, and yes, I agree with all the comments about photographing birdds and getting the eye in focus. Eye shine freqauently makes a photo, paricularly on birds with dark heads....chickadees, magpies, crows and the like.
I find crows very intriguing. As with squirrels, I have none of these in my yard. Maybe the talking African Grey in the aviary intimate them. Yeah, right. Fantastic pic of your yard guest.
Okay, I'm laughing out loud here. Uh, in my defense, I did fav cockatoo and lorikeet pics but I confess to also fav'ing a crow shot of G. Threshers. I like the big beasts! Of course I've never actually had to put up with them and their mischievous antics so my adoration is likely in stupidity.
