Stone the Crows. by terryliv

Stone the Crows.

This pic is for @richardhoeg who, for those who follow him would know, had a fascination with crows for a couple of weeks mainly because crows and magpies were the only birds around. He then suggested a crow challenge and I have taken it up.
I used the flash on all the crow pics I took to try to get some reflections of the black eye so it would stand out and it appears to have worked a treat.
Another brilliant focus on the eye shot. A photographer friend of mine who does a lot of bird photos once said that if you focus on the eye the rest just falls into place and he would be right with this shot. Brilliant. You are first drawn to the eye and then to the beak to see the twig he is collecting.

Nice one Poppo. I think our crows are larger, is he a youngun ?

@hermann I have no idea Sally. I was a bit surprised at his (lack of) size in the pics too. He didn't seem that small in the flesh errr feather.

Nice capture Terry, I have to admit Crows are probably my least favourite bird, but good shot anyway!

@richardhoeg Hope you pick up a heap of new friends Richard :-) And yes, Sunday week (your time) I will be in Victoria BC.

A crow!! You have so many colourful birds - but I read your challenge with Richard so it's a fair deal!! Have a great time in Richard's country. Expecting some great photos :)

Love crows, I think they are fascinating birds, you have captured this really well in detail! Fav!

Great shot, including lots of feather detail, and yes, I agree with all the comments about photographing birdds and getting the eye in focus. Eye shine freqauently makes a photo, paricularly on birds with dark heads....chickadees, magpies, crows and the like.

I think they are one of the smartest birds. Great detail in your shot.

I find crows very intriguing. As with squirrels, I have none of these in my yard. Maybe the talking African Grey in the aviary intimate them. Yeah, right. Fantastic pic of your yard guest.

@nanm @sabanford @mjalkotzy @ribbet9 @gilbertwood @karlow75 @digitalrn @dianeburns @onewing @hermann @gigiflower @tonydebont @sangwann @lyndemc Thanks for your comments everyone. The crow was in a park - not our backyard. I cant get within 100 mtrs of the ones at home. If we walk out past the back door and they are in the yard they are off. Might have something to do with the fact that we throw things at them. Very sensitive they are

Okay, I'm laughing out loud here. Uh, in my defense, I did fav cockatoo and lorikeet pics but I confess to also fav'ing a crow shot of G. Threshers. I like the big beasts! Of course I've never actually had to put up with them and their mischievous antics so my adoration is likely in stupidity.
