Took the camera out to golf on Monday expecting to get shots of golf in Brisbane in winter but once again got distracted.
The stone curlew is one of my favourite birds - weird looking things with some very interesting behaviour and this fellow was doing their normal trick when approached of laying perfectly still and hoping that they go unnoticed.
Stone Curlews nest on the course and hopefully in spring we will be able to get some better shots of them and I can talk more about them.
Not only am I now at the hallway point but I am only 2 days behind. WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is very interesting story about the bird. This has lovely markings on it, and their behavior gave you a chance to take this great shot of him. FAV
@hermann I don't know Sally. I always thought they were a Stone Curlew or a Bush Curlew then when I checked it up today, they had it as Bush Stone-Curlew. Who am I to argue.
From the thumbnail view, I was afraid something was wrong with the bird in the picture. It didn't look as flat as that lizard you posted once, thankfully. Very interesting about their "be still" behavior when approached. Looking forward to seeing and hearing more about them in future days. Congrats on reaching the halfway point of your project. You got started just a week or so ahead of me.
