A few days ago, I was at the Mt Cootha gardens and got some pics of the Aloe flowers but they ended up on the cutting room floor.
Went back today and the bad news was that the flowers were past their prime but the good news was there were plenty of honey eaters feasting on them. In the end I didn't know whether I was photographing the birds or the flowers but . . .I can't pass up a good bird shot.
There was another shot where the Rainbow Lorikeet was slightly better but it didn't have the little bug. SOOC - no crop
Fantastic pic! Neat to know there was no cropping, that you got this close with your camera. Glad you pointed out the bug. I would've missed it. The bird's colors were stealing all my attention.
