Vriesea "Barbara" by terryliv

Vriesea "Barbara"

Couldn't think of anything much for today so just a couple of Bromeliad flowers from the garden to keep up the numbers.
"Barbara" is one of a very large number of Vriesea cultivars which are very similar with the exception that "Barbara" has a very thick and fleshy flower bract rather than the more common broad flat bract The flowers, which are small and insignificant, emerge from the tips of the bract.
I need sunglasses on looking at that bright red colour!!

This looks somewhat similar to the flowers on the little broms I bought a while back. They're now growing little pups so I've done some reading on how to cut and grow these new plants. It sounds as tho the bird room is destined to be filled with broms in the coming winters as both the plants and the birds like it warm and a tad humid. Yours here looks to be one happy plant. Gorgeous!

Lovely flower, it is very bright and shiny.

Terry I have to say my least favourite bird is the Crow, they seem evil to me, I have never liked them.
