Pioneer settlers dwelling dating from the 1850s near Walcha, NW of Sydney. It was one of a number of similar dwellings on small land holdings taken up by settlers who were mainly born in Ireland. The settlement was known as Irish Town. This particular house was occupied by the original family until the 1980s.
One for your rusty Tuesday @lyndemc
Love this trip into the past. My house is two of these joined together as a T. The two houses were built in the 1920s and joined together in the 1930s when two farms were combined.
Reminds me of our home when my parents moved us from King island to Gippsland in Victoria in 1953 except ours never had a water tank ,wash house or toilet when we first arrived.
Pretty shot of a homestead-style rural house. Bucolic scene with nice color contrast. The buildings corrugated metal roofs display a nice, aged patina.
I love it! Those metal shingles are fantastic! I'm actually on the hunt for some I can have for photo purposes. The trusty brother-in-law has his eye out for them for me.
