Old railway bridge crossing Tenterfield Creek near Tenterfield NSW. No, it's no longer in use.
I love this old bridge and it saddens me to see it in such a derelict state. Those beautiful red brick piers stand proud and strong reminiscence of the railway era. Did you see the historic railway station and museum in Tenterfield. Beautiful setting and interesting :)

Beautiful composition and depth of field Terry, the bridge is in need of some TLC or demolition:)

Wow--it's something to imagine a heavy train speeding across that!

Great image. My Aunty lives in Tenterfield...have not her for years.

Thank goodness it is no longer in use. It looks a bit wonky!

Fabulous shot, thank God it is no longer in use though, it does look a bit rickety.

Great shot of this RR bridge crossing. Now that it is no longer in use can you walk on it. FAV

The river/stream must flood at some time. How old is this structure Poppo?

Good shot. RR bridges are so neat to photograph.

Sam
Well I can understand why it is no longer in use! Looks ready to collapse ;)

@ribbet9 This historic bridge was constructed between 1882 and 1888. Such a shame to see it in such disrepair, woul be quite magnificent restored :))

@hermann @ribbet9 When Poppo talks, you can hardly see Sally's lips move.

I'd say that wood's seen its better days. Looks like the water's been mighty high here before; there's debris up at the top of the brickwork!

@hermann Thank you for the info Sally!

This made me think of that documentary where Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman are crossing Siberia on motorbikes... they saw (and crossed!) a couple of bridges that were in that or even worse state :)

Neat shot - I was glad to read it's no longer in use after looking at that "dip" on the side. The piers do look sturdy enough though
January 20th, 2015
Great shot, it does look a little neglected (or rustic).

Can't imagine why. Looks like one of mine!
