Cooktown Orchid by terryliv

Cooktown Orchid

Last year I told the story of how we have had this orchid growing in one of the trees in the garden for 30 odd years. It gets broken off and knocked down by the possums, the rain and the wind and we pick the bits up and stick them back in the tree and every year it sends out a couple of flowers to thank us for our troubles.
It occurs naturally in a very small area of the North Queensland rainforest between Cooktown and Cairns.
The Cooktown Orchid is the floral emblem of Queensland.
We have been away and am way behind in taking pics, posting and comments. We arrived home last night and now have the job of catching up.
Beautiful Orchid complete with raindrops. Fav

Beautiful orchard! How interesting that it grows in the tree! Do you see the possums or are they nocturnal? Love this shot with the water droplets! Fav!

This is a lovely shot, and I like the droplets on them. And Cooktown is of course now infamous!
