Pheasant Coucal by terryliv

Pheasant Coucal

The Pheasant Coucal is a large pheasant-like, ground-dwelling cuckoo with a long tail and short rounded wings. It is a native to the tropical and subtropical forests of Australia as well as Indonesia and Papua New Guinea and grows to 70cm in length.
We have them come into the backyard from time to time where they hang around for a couple of days while we feed them the meat we give the magpies and butcher birds before they disappear as suddenly as they arrive.
I reckon they are a very beautiful bird.

Great shot of your visitor. We have a Pheasant that visits us every now and then also, but his feathers are not marked the same way as this guy. I'll have to post one of him when he next visits so we can compare.
