I spent a lot of time today (after my Government House trip) trying to get a decent pic of a Bluefaced Honeyeater in flight but it was next to impossible. After taking numerous bad shots, this bird suddenly landed right behind me on the step ladder I had been using and just sat there. They never do that - much to shy. It was if he felt sorry for me and was saying, "Go on, take your shot." So I did - and then he flew off. Very strange.
Well done. We have a few blue faced honey eaters who come into our garden, but gee they are quick to escape again and almost divebomb the food en route.
So this is what a sympathy shot looks like, huh? I swear you have this power, this communication with the wild birds. Lovely image you got from this cooperative Honeyeater.
Yes, I did get your comment about my broms and I came right back and wrote a thanks for the advice and then asked another question about what size pot these plants should be in now that they're producing pups, but I couldn't find the note anywhere so have to assume that I pulled one of those dumb moves where I type a note and then fail to post it. Anyway, my question about the pot size had to do with wether a 100 mm (4" across) would be too small or if these plants would be happier in something larger. Some plants don't like larger pots and won't produce offspring unless their roots are crowded, but I'm not sure if that's how a brom feels. Thanks for the feedback on my earlier question.
@terryliv HAHAHAHAH yes Poppo - managed to stay up all day yesterday but crashed at 8pm.......then bright eyed at 4am so decided to get up instead of thrashing around in bed!!!!
ha ha love it when that kind of thing happens - fate? Certainly more than coincidence. I too found them so hard to shoot (camera not gun!) then on day in Noosa I spied one happily sitting on top of a menu stand in an al fresco restaurant - voila: lots of pic opportunities!
