A selection of Vriesea (Bromeliad) flower bracts from the garden. One of the flowers is out in the red bract in the bottom left photo.
Their shape is quite nice looking

@pyrrhula No they are in the garden - well actually in pots in the garden. Brisbane is a sub-tropical city so we have no problem with frosts or sustained periods of cold weather. For example, today the max forecast is 27deg and we are in the middle of winter.

Ah-ha! This is what I'm seeing on my little brom. The upper right brom looks to be the same color as the two I have, and they have, in the past, put out little yellow 'flowers' as depicted in the lower two images. Yours look much happier than my sad little plants tho. I think mine want to move home to Australia.
