Still in the Old Timers mine - Carl Wills descends the 20 metre main shaft into the mine using hand and foot holes he dug into the side at the time he dug the shaft.

@ubobohobo The mine entrance and exit for the visitors has been dug through the side of the hill directly at the mine level - through the opal shop of course.

Oh my goodness I thought it was possibly dangerous from the previous shot ( looking at the trip backwards! ) and now to see this! What a hard life and so dangerous! Great image! Fav!
