Bugger!! by terryliv

Bugger!!

This was the second puncture on the trip (the first was on the Birdsville Track) but the damage here was much more obvious. Rocks ripping out the walls of the tyres is a common occurrence on these rough roads.

How do travelers deal with it? You can carry only so many spare tires, I would think. I like the man in the photo who must be thinking, "Bummer!"

Reminds me I need new tires too!

@cejaanderson That's John the driver/tour leader Jane and nothing, but nothing seemed to raise his heart rate above 40bpm. Just about the most relaxed, laid back person imaginable despite his responsibilities on the tour which covered just about everything.

I think we were only carrying the one spare for the truck although there may have been another one hidden away somewhere. The tyre that was punctured on the Birdsville Track was replaced in Oodnadatta.

The truck had dual rear wheels so suppose if they had a second blowout, he would just run on a single rear wheel until it was replaced.

I suppose these happenings will be common place to these people. Must have been a large or very sharp rock to do damage like that.
