This is the top section of the same garden taken in January last year. The caladiums, the big heart shaped leaf plants did not like this year's conditions at all. The red brom at the front of the pic is Vriesea "Barbara"
Wow what fantastic botanical display!!!
I especially like the large leaves with the pink center.
You will be pleased to see the foliage in Vancouver, Canada on your visit.
Because of all their rain they have a great growing season.
You have created a paradise in your own yard. This is absolutely stunning. I can see now why you say the current state of your garden is not what it normally is. I was thinking it was absolutely gorgeous but seeing this photo, I understand better. Here's hoping abundant rain is in your future.
@ubobohobo@digitalrn Hi guys and thanks for your view and comments. It is not as time consuming as you would think. This garden has undergone many transformations over the years until it ended up like this. All it takes is a couple of days work at the right time of the year to rejuvenate it for the next season. Then it is a fiddle here and a tweak there throughout the rest of the year. Thing is, once it is looking good, it is a pleasure rather than a chore to do these fiddles and tweaks. Also, would you believe that most of the plants you are looking at are in pots? We have very crappy soil and I had too many plants dying when I planted them out. Keeping them in pots not only gives them a better chance of survival but makes the rejuvenation process a breeze. Cheers Poppo
@radiogirl Thanks Kathy. Those plants are the Caladiums. I was looking at some pics from Oregon today and yes, they didn't seem to have any issues with snow at all.
