Day 4 - Derby Prison Tree by terryliv

Day 4 - Derby Prison Tree

This Boab tree in Derby Western Australia is known as the Prison Tree as the local police used its hollow trunk as a holding cell during Derby's early days in the 19th century.
I have posted this photo previously but have included it again in context with the Kimberley tour.

Very cool tree and story. I remember seeing it before but I was just flipping through my feed and in a hurry so I'm glad you posted it again. I got to examine it closer this time. Notice how MB is carved into the trunk right in the front? I wonder if I was in there in a past life. LOL!
