Day 4 - Gibb River Road by terryliv

Day 4 - Gibb River Road

I love road signs.
The Gibb River Road is 660km long road and links Derby in the west to the Great Northern Highway (Highway 1) in the east not far from Wyndham and Kunnanurra. It is usually flooded and impassable between November and March. In the centre photo on the left, it is the dotted line cutting through the heart of the Kimberley.
In the mid 2000s, the road was upgraded from a dirt track to a formed road - a couple of small sections are now even sealed!!!!
We were travelling from the Derby end and it will take over a week to reach Kunnanurra.
Don't bother to comment. Just setting the scene.

This can only be found in Australia I'm sure :)

I love these signs too and when ever I come across them, I read them and take a picture!! It helps when I get home to go back to remember the places I visited. Nice capture!

Nice shot Terry. They had a tv program about trucking and they had a program where they were carting something rather oversize into El questro (from memory) and it was quite a challenge.
