We left camp early for the 90k drive into the Bungle Bungle Range along what is reputed to be the worst van wrecker of a road in Oz.
After reaching the car park, we set out on the 2km hike to Cathedral Gorge.
The Bungles claim to fame is these "Beehive Dome" rock formations. The rock is sandstone with a protective skin of orange iron oxide and black cyanobacteria.
My apologies in advance but I think this will be another long day.
There is a new version of the map at http://365project.org/terryliv/from-the-archiv/2015-01-06 that goes up to the start of Day 15.
Lovely layers. I have read about these rock formations and would like to think someday I might see them for real. In the mean time I will look on your fantastic photo and dream.
@cejaanderson Sorry Jane but there was a HUGE football game on last night and I was rushing to get my postings up before it started so the narrative was not thought out.
This is the hike into Cathedral Gorge which went past these beehive domes. You'll see why it was called Cathedral Gorge soon.
