Okra... by thewatersphotos

Okra...

The okra is in bloom. This variety grows crimson in color, but turns green when cooked.
Didn’t know what an okra plant looked like....very interesting shot

@thewatersphotos Do you know, I have seen it in the supermarket many times and never known what you would do with it or what it tastes like and have never tried! Clearly I ought to give it a go. How do you eat it? Do you like it?

@casablanca :- ) It is a Southern delicacy. Folks eat in different ways. You can pick the pods young and small and pickle them. Some like to boil the whole pods (texture is a little "slimy" for me). My favorite way to enjoy okra is to coat it in corn meal and fry. Yummy! Here's a good southern recipe https://addapinch.com/fried-okra-recipe/
