An ice storm hit Virginia. Well over 100,000 households lost power. State Police were reporting a record number of vehicle crashes and an entire Interstate was shut down. So of course there were photo opportunities galore!
By this morning the roads were well cleared of ice so the Missus and I went out to a) buy a chainsaw to deal with the large branches brought down in our yard, b) survey the local damage, which was significant, and c) get pictures (what else? This is the 365 Project!).
This is a beaver pond about a mile from our house. Just left of center there is a pile of lumber...that is actually the old beaver lodge, where the beavers would have lived once the dam was completed and the pond formed. The ice, which is coating everything you see in this shot, highlights it so that I could actually get a good picture of it after nearly four years of trying.
