Once you get out of the loop Chicago is a city of neighborhoods that can quickly change from one block to another. I live in a relatively mixed neighborhood. Two blocks to the south of me is the affluent suburb of Oak Park, and one block to my north and you are in a working class Mexican neighborhood where this picture was taken. His hat caught my attention and I spent nearly 10 minutes waiting for him to look up, but he was very intent on what he was doing.
@annalarkham I agree on ice cream, and I would have bought one, but I did not have any cash on me, just a debit card. I really must start carrying cash.
@ukandie1 Oh no! That is at least one advantage of the cash economy here in Berlin -you always have to have cash as you can barely pay on card for anything!
