I was cleaning out a closet and came across these yesterday. They are my daughter’s first DM’s (she was about three or four years old at the time, so they are tiny), my mum sent them to her from England. She has had at least one pair of DM’s ever since.
I was going to post a different shot of them, one that gave a better perspective of their size, but this one made me think of her more. She did not start to speak until she was well into her third year, and was unintelligible to most people until she was about six, but it never stopped her communicating, she just found her own way to do it. An attribute that still serves her well as a talkative and opinionated 18 year old. Nothing flusters or stresses her, she just gets things done. For some reason since she was little she has a habit of bouncing around the house, much to the annoyance of her brother. They are both away at school most of the time, but when they are both home at least once a day you can hear my son yelling “NICOLE, STOP BOUNCING”, to which she normally replies in her calm way “I can’t hear you when you yell at me”. She knows just how to wind him up. It drives me nuts when they are here, but I do miss them so much when they are gone.
What a super shot, love the detail in the boots and just goes perfect with he fall backdrop. Such sweet memories with them too, how nice to have while they're away being the fine young adults you raised them up to be.
The days are long, but the years are short. :). Lovely shot... I am not sure how I will feel in a year, cleaning out the last closet. Maybe I will get a pair of DMs myself. From your description, your daughter sounds like a wise and powerful soul.
You have put my mind at rest. My daughter, her husband and we grandparents worry because Max, our grandson, is 3 years old he speaks a lot but does not pronounce a few letters. The speech therapist says not to worry. She must have been very cute with those shoes on. I like them.
@sangwann I am glad my daughter's story helps ease your mind. Our daughter's speech thereapist told us not to worry also. It was a struggle at times doing the assignments at home with her as there is so much repetition, but it really paid off.
@pixiemac I am glad this helped warm your soul. It can be a real worry when children are late talkers, but we never had any worries about her communicating with us, and once we got her hearing tested and she started speech therapy she came along in leaps and bounds.
A story to warm my soul, my little grandson is a late speaker. Your daughter sounds like a great character :)
