I told myself I was not allowed to take pictures today until I had done the rest of my Xmas shopping. It was dark by the time I had finished (well finished for the day), and I did not have long to do anything as I did not want to miss my train. This is noisy but I still l like it!
It doesn't look particularly noisy Andie and this is a view that was worth waiting for. BtW - did you just happen to have a tripod about your person while you were out shopping? Wouldn't mind betting that this would work in B&W too...
@vignouse Thank you Richard. I did not have a tripod with me, but there were benches and I used one of those along with my bag to help angle the camera upwards slightly, and then used the self timer. I did do a b&w edit too, and spent a while trying to decide between them. My instinct was to go with the b&w, I am always more comfortable with my b&w editing, but in the end went with the color version.
@bill_fe Thanks Bill. No tripod, it is bad enough lugging my camera with me, but there were benches there and I used one of those along with my bag to help angle the camera upwards slightly, and then used the self timer.
@bill_fe I am not sure if the benches are new this year or last, but there. Is a long row of picnic style benches on the east side of the bean, before they put them there it was just a large piece of concrete. It is nice in the summer, it has made it more of a communal space, some where to sit down and relax or to eat.
@bill_fe You got me thinking about when the benches were installed and apparently they have been there since 2009 (goes to show how often I went to Millennium Park before starting 365, either that or I was not paying attention). They were originally in Grant Park, and are now on the Chase Promenade in Millennium Park, and is actually an art installation called "Running Table" by Dan Peterman. It is 100 feet long and made of recycled plastic, and here I was thinking they were just picnic benches :)
It's Chicago! Haven't been home in a couple of weeks but I instantly recognized it on the PP! Congratulations . .. a wonderful showing off of "our" city in such a celebratory style!
Very resourceful of you to use a bench.
Picture looks sharp on my iPhone screen.
