If you are in the US, then you know what this is about, for those of you who are not it is to do with baseball.
The W is hung at Wrigley Field, and at the homes of die hard fans every time the Chicago Cubs win. The Cubs have made it to the World Series for the first time since 1945, and they have not won it all since 1908. Needless to say the city has gone Cubs crazy, apart from the White Sox fans (the team from the other side of the city), and I am one of them. The first game of the World Series (never worked out why it is called that because the world is not involved in the competition) is tonight!
This was taken at Union Station! Not a very well composed shot, but thought I would share anyway to mark the occasion.
So exciting for the Cubs fans! I had a wonderful time at Wrigley Field with Taffy @taffy and her husband Jim! Everything crossed for them!
Great shot! Fav!
Poignant looking at this at the moment after such a stunning defeat tonight. Very very sad time for Cubbie fans. Hopefully it's a one-off and they are 'on their game' from now on. Great marker for the occasion.
Love seeing this Andie!!! While I'm totally thrilled to be in China, I admit that (a) I cried when Jim was texting about blowing the lead, then the rain delay (all of which happened as we flew from Beijing to Xi'an, and then when we got off the plane in Xi'an, he texted within a minute or two that they'd just won. Surprisingly emotional for me as a native Chicagoan, hearing my mom say things like "I could die happy if only the Cubs could win the Series" and then follow up by saying "I don't mean it would be okay for me to die, just that I could die happy."
