The obvious is that it is the pride parade and everyone is willing to pose for a picture. The unknown is that I had the inspirational Giulio Sciorio as my mentor. I learned a lot from watching him work, this shot is an example...who are they looking at? Not me
I piggybacked this shot, meaning Giulio made contact and engaged the people, and I took a shot too, and whilst colorful and fun I hope you agree it is missing some soul, they are engaged with Giulio not me (apart from one person)!
In the past I hated working in color, but hard to hate on fuji color straight out of camera, I hope you agree!
Color! COLOR! I interpret the man looking at you as he's thinking you're a kindred spirit - he's photo-bombing the group and thinks you've joined a posed shot already in progress. IMHO that adds to the story of the people looking at the other photographer.
Your analysis of this image was as interesting to read as the photo was to see -- amazing shot SOOC! How cool to have done the photo walk with him. And yes, it's even better on black.
