Inland Steel Building #5

One of the reasons this building was before its time is that all of its mechanics (elevators, washrooms, heating and cooling etc) were hidden away, in this case, in a separate building to the side which was connected to the main building by a small bridge, this meant that the each floor of the building was open plan, further enhanced because the architect placed the supporting columns on the outside of the building.

Another shot taken at OHC Chicago in October, when @taffy and I visited this architects office it was full of people working away at their desks, most wearing headphones, because this was truly an open office environment!
@taffy, more from the Inland Steel Building, taken at OHC

Great leading line taking us right to the back of the shot. This building sounds a bit like Lloyds of London where all the elevators and pipework are on the outside.

I like the lack of symmetry here while maintaining the lines straight

Almost a Frank Lloyd Wright feel to this, organic but not quite.

The perspective in this shot is wonderful, almost to a vanishing point at the far end. Love it, love it.
