Nasty rain all day, the kind that really makes you wet. So... I was searching for the indoor photo inspiration. I recently read a little article on "What to photograph when there is nothing to photograph", and... for the lack of imagination and for the presence of an orange wall in the apartment.... decided to recreate an image from there. It was harder than I thought :). Unfortunately, my wall is lacking the texture that keeps the interest in the original photo, but nonetheless. The original article (alas, in Russian, but the pictures are inspiring for rainy days) is here: http://prophotos.ru/inspiration/16530-chto-fotografirovat-kogda-nechego-fotografirovat
Orange is really warming , I have been messing with an orange filter my self this week, A key always tells a story, So well done . Interesting link I love the great escape.
Thank you for sharing the link, some great images from simple subjects. We all see and take the the same same subject differently. With your key, I would have been tempted to get in much closer and shoot in portrait mode, and maybe use a torch or other light source to give the key a shadow and increase the modeling on the wall, (I do hope you do not mind my opinion.
Thanks for the link. I think you did a good job. Isn't it crazy, how some days there are too many pictures and some days we feel so uninspired and the world has nothing left to offer?
Thank you all for your comments and favs! I am glad some of you liked the link - I found it encouraging to see what's possible on the days like this one.
Ute, you are completely right - there are just some days that produce nothing! And it's hard to find something inside to photograph that would look nice and uncluttered, at least in my house with two kids :) I took a couple of pics during/inbetween driving my kids to all they places they needed to go today, but those were just uninspiring. And my goal was to take a picture a day for posting, so, experimenting with the key (by the way - from the attic stuff!) was the only thing I had time for.
Bob, you are also absolutely right - there was no sun today, no shadows, and only I took the picture and was posting it, I realise that a shadow would add more interest to it, but ... unfortunately, I was out of the "photo-time" for the day and didn't re-do it. With the portrait orientation - I kind of did like the big negative space of bright orange there, but a more close-up "key portrait" might also be nice. I still have the key, so I might try. Thank you for the comments and the thoughts!
Once again, I appreciate all of you stopping by and leaving a comment. Thanks!
Northy, Clare, Linda and vstap! Thank you all for stopping by and commenting. I too liked the simplicity of that shot and I am happy I had an orange wall handy. Although it meant for me climbing onto my kitchen counter to take the picture :)
