The Vine With The Purple Flower

I can never remember what this plant was we have growing in our backyard. I finally looked it up by uploading this photo to the app "Garden Answers."

It's called an Akebia Quinata (Chocolate Vine or Five-Leaf Akebia), a shrub native to Japan, China and Korea, that naturalized in the eastern United States from Georgia to Michigan to Massachusetts. Who knew???

@gardenfolk I finally identified this plant in our yard we were wondering about last year when you came to visit.

I really like it! So pretty! I will not remember the name but glad you looked it up! :) Whenever I tried Garden Answers, it was wrong half the time so I deleted it out of frustration.

It's gotten so big. I've tried to get some to root for the other trellis but haven't had luck. Maybe I'll try again now that it's spring.
