Anybody know what this is? Just over an inch long. Found on my patio this morning.

Looks a bit like a dor-beetle (Melolontha melolontha) probably the female as the male has antlers (sort of). Great shot!

At just over an inch long, I’d say what it is, is intimidating! As to species unfortunately no idea.
ETA: It does look similar but not identical to our June bugs.

@gardencat @jacqbb @louannwarren thank you for your suggestions as the the type of beetle, @jacqbb I believe you are correct with (Melolontha melolontha), also known in the UK as May Beetle so very possible very similar to your June Beetle too.

I'd say Melonlontha Melonlontha too, which I know as a cockchafer beetle.

@beryl I went and looked it up, checked the cockchafer I thought it was and saw the Latin name matched

In German we call it „Maikäfer“ it is coming out in May. The translator tells me cock chafer

It's body reminds me of what we have here called a Japanese beetle. The hard shell and prehistoric looking body.
