Stained Glass

May 25th, 2014
Is there anyone out there who has taken some pictures of stained glass. I'm launching an online magasine and need some good photos. Your name and positive feedback would be included in the articles. Melanie

I took this a couple of years ago when I only had a little P&S camera. I'd never seen sepia stained glass before. This was taken in the chapel at my daughter's college

The Christ Resurrection window designed by Frederick Wilson in 1900 and manufactured by Tiffany Glass & Decorating Company for All Saints Episcopal Church of Richmond has been restored by professional conservator Scott Taylor. Scott is the husband of one the art teachers at my school and an artist in his own right.
This window was in storage for 50 years before being donated to the museum. Now due to its prominent location overlooking The Boulevard, a major concourse, the jewel-like colors of the glass can be seen shining at night. The words of the gospel come to mind (Matthew 5:14-16): “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
This was taken in Nov. 2010 at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond.

Classic windows inside a huge neo Gothic structure, the University of Princeton Chapel. Really crappy light and only a hand held shot, but it captures something of the enormity of the window I think.

Also in the chapel, this is more than just the stained glass, but it shows off the cool natural light through the glass contrasting with the interior tungsten rather well I think.

Not sure if this is what you want but I took this a couple of years ago while visiting Russia. It is from St Issac's church in St Petersburg.

@sjoblues @psychographer @allie912 @quietpurplehaze @padders @Weezilou @frankhymus @gardencat @redy4et There is a good chance our pictures will be used with no credit! I hate to be a negative Nellie but this person has only one photo in the album that was posted yesterday. No followers and no following is a little suspicious. I hope I am wrong.

@grammyn

Thanks - I've taken some action. ( I did post a question as to how we would be informed if our pics are used.)

@scrivna is there any way to tell if we have been duped?

@mel1 You may see that there is some concern in the community, and after posting many photos in good faith, the person who has begun a thread usually responds and offers thanks, perhaps share more about their plans. We're a close knit group and have one another's backs, so maybe it's time to chime in...

Sorry been really busy all week and haven't logged in. THANK YOU so very much to everyone for responding. I'm meeting up with my business partner tomorrow and will show her all the pictures. The magazine is a slow process at the moment and still at logo and composing stage as we're both running other businesses in addition. I will keep in touch. I love the combination of contemporary and traditional photos you have taken and especially thank you to those who have provided background information.

@grammyn Yes I know Mel. She lives near me and you can see I am an ace member Katy. She is genuine as I go looking around car boot sales in the summer gathering glass and mirrors for her.

@snoopybooboo Thank youso much for taking the time to clarify! I am really happy it is not a prank of some kind! We have had people to spam the site and a few who have posted pictures as their own that someon else took! We are a nice trusting lot of people for the most part and generally take people as they are. The limited response by the poster is understandable now. I sincerely apologize @mel1 for raising doubts about the authenticity of you request and would like to resubmit my only photo for your consideration. Thanks again.

This is in a small Catholic church in Alabama
