I'm doing a Pecha Kucha presentation next week. It's a 20 slide PowerPoint presentation, with each slide lasting 20 seconds. My topic is the 365 project. I'm looking for people that would let me show 3 of their photos plus a comment about their participation in the project. All credits will be shown and the photos will not be used in any other format. Will you help me?
i'm game! what kind of pics are you looking for....or do you just want to browse albums and choose the ones you want to use? What is your presentation for?
@sdpace Hi Stacy... love your stuff. I would like personal comments from people, 2 to 5 sentences, about how and why they are doing the 365 project. I can browse for photos or you can direct me to ones you want to show.
@worthyglo Same as everyone, I suppose . . . just trying to improve my photography skills. :-) Don't know about a favorite, but the one that got the most response was this one:
@rich57 Richard... you have some that are my favorites but if you'd like to choose, that's fine. Also, everyone, tell me why you're here and what you're getting out of the project.
Why I do it:
I'm about 1/3 of the way through my 2nd year here on 365Project. I originally started the project because I was about to start photography school and I wanted to have a place to post some photos for critique. After starting school, I realized that 365Project was a perfect way for me to keep enjoying photography while studying the technical aspects of the craft. I am able to put my newfound knowledge to use in my own personal work, and I can share it with others who ask for help or critique. I have made a number of friends here, and some I have even met in person. I have continued mostly because it became a habit that I really enjoyed, and I also love seeing all the talent here - people and their opinions exist to make us better! :)
You can choose whichever of my photos you would like - anything before September 2011 has my old name on them if they're watermarked, so let me know if you go back that far. If I had to choose 3 for you, I would pick these (they seemed to have appealed to the masses)
You are welcome to use anything of mine that appeals to you. I would be glad to choose some for you if there is a particular type or style you are interested in.
I'm game! If you want to look through my photos and tell me if I'm worthy, I'd pick out a few of my favorites from over the past year and a half! Just let me know!
My reason for doing this:
In the past two years of doing this project, I've learned so much and grown as a photographer. I've been introduced to new techniques and learned totally different ways of looking at the world. Shooting daily has allowed me to explore and develop my own style, and through daily practice, my learnings are continually reinforced. The 365 community is fantastically supportive and encouraging, and their enthusiasm and talent pushes me to keep learning and challenging myself to become even better.
You're welcome to use anything you'd like, but here are a couple favorites of mine:
I'm game! I don't have any particular favorites, but feel free to go through my three albums; there is a very eclectic variety in there!
Why I do it?
After losing my wife in 2004, I really needed something to ground me into the new reality of being a widowed single parent. I had dabbled in photography in my youth, but my old camera had been collecting dust for years. 365Project is just what I needed to reconnect with an old love!
This one is a Weekly Challenge winner, but not my favorite :)
@worthyglo I joined because I really liked taking pictures. Ever since I earned my Girl Scout badge for photography when I was in grade school. Then I got my first Pentax film camera in high school. I just never liked my pictures. Something was always wrong. I started 365 to force me to keep trying and a picture a day seemed reasonable. I study the really popular photographs out here to figure out how I can improve composition, lighting, angles, etc. And I think I'm getting better. That continues to keep it fun - always looking to take a shot that's just a tad better than the last one.
Hi.
Im doing the project because i love photography and sketching and a friend set me onto this. I love it ...Its a great challenge and keeps me at it. :)
Im learning a heck of a lot too.
Take your pick- just let me know which ones you use please.
Well I started the project rather randomly after a night out in the pub with Rich Tyson and Gords. Rich had been doing the project for a while and had already persuaded Gords to join so I thought it would be fun. Plus I’d got a new camera the previous Christmas and thought it might be a good idea to learn how to use it properly (reading manuals has never been my thing!). Am quite surprised at how much I’ve got into the project. Seeing the variety of work from different people and interacting with them has really been fun. I’ve been to a few meet ups and met some really great people too. I think (hope!) my photographs have improved over the 6 months I’ve been doing 365 - partly because I’ve learned some editing skills including HDR, and partly because I’ve started thinking more about light and composition. There’s nothing like having a potential audience to make you try to up your game. Plus seeing what you like in other people’s pictures inspires you to try new things. Some days I feel uninspired and bogged down by work and it seems hard to produce good results, but I’m definitely going to see it through.
If you want comments on particular photos would be happy to add if you let me know which ones.
@grizzlysghost Thanks Aaron, Sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you find lots of support here... I know I love the encouragement I get from fellow 365ers.
@worthyglo Oh yes cool. Not sure how I got started with the buildings. Think I was a bit surprised when people liked the first one so started looking out for more. there does seem to be a lot of really good photos in the derelict tag so its obviously a popular theme. Weird lot we are...
Ok. I started the project over 2 years ago because a good friend suggested it as a bit of fun, just using my phone camera. I had no intention of capturing a year through photos or even improving my long forgotten photography skills. For the first few months I kept forgetting to take a shot. Then suddenly I "got" the 365 project. I slowly realised there was a whole world-wide network of people taking a shot every day which inspired me to dig my camera out of the cupboard and get out there and record my world. I'd say I've got a lot out of this project the best of which have been the on-line friendships and even better actually meeting real-life 365ers. Feel free to choose any of my shots. I've included two of my faves in case you've not seen them before!
Well it looks like you have plenty to choose from already. If for any reason you want a more beginner or newer to 365, I would be ok with the idea.
Good luck with your speech and continued success on 365
So the photos are already here,I showed them to you earlier.
It's been already a few months since I'm uploading photos here and I have to admit, I don't see myself stopping after just one year. 365 project started as something to do in my free time,as a challenge for me,who was wondering if I’m able to do this everyday. People and their photos seemed unreacheable.Everyone had awesome photos, people that would comment and they seemed a family that knew each other for a long time. I want to believe I become one of them after some months.I improved my photography in time, I made friends here,I learned a lot from everyone on this site, I became a different person, capable of expressing her feelings through photography. Here, words are not always needed. On 365 project,a picture is worth 1000 words. It’s a site that bring the best out of everybody.
@worthyglo My reason for doing this project was an excuse to take and post pictures. I've always loved photography, but I never knew how I should share it. This project gave me a reason to share and gave me a way to release my creative energy. And it gave me a reason to ask myself who I really was as a person.
I don't know if this picture would be allowed, but this is my all time favorite picture I've ever taken because it was difficult, but felt necessary. It might sound stupid, but this photo taught me the most about just being who you want to be and never giving that up.
As far as any other pictures, feel free to pick whatever else you want from my albums.
I would be glad to help you out if you still have room for these. It's hard for me to pick out three! But it would be hard for me to pick 33 too!
I began 365 at a low point in my life. I'd been teaching in a private school and loved my job, but my contract was not renewed due to a lack of funding. 365 started out as a life-saver, a way to keep myself looking forward to each day. I'm now in my second year and 365 has become so much more. It is my voice, my eyes and my heart. Through it I see my world and share it with others. My pictures speak and they have a conversation with viewers and fellow photographers. I am thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to travel around the world and meet people without having to leave home. Best of all 365 challenges me to think creatively and improve my skills. What a great place to be!
If you're still after more (it seems you have had a wonderful response to this already!), I'd be more than happy to participate.
I started 365 as a way to find myself again. I've had a difficult couple of years and wanted a way to look at the world and see the beauty again. I am only a quarter of the way through my first year and am finding this as a great opportunity to journal my life, get creative with photography and engage with some amazingly talented people. 365 has given me a wonderful outlet for creativity and I am loving every minute of this experience!
Here are a couple of my shots, but please feel free to check my album if you're after something different:
@worthyglo A coworker got me to join 365 because she was doing it and I had seen how much her skills improved. So I joined primarily for the social networking with like minded hobbyists and professionals and for inspiration. Sometimes I will follow a theme, such as when I did the "Tabasco Project", but for the most part, photography for me is finding beauty in something that others might not notice and/or creating an illusion/mood with my work. Also, I like to have fun with it and try new techniques that I pick up on here on 365project.
Feel free to use whichever of my shots are your favorites.
@jsw0109 Jeff, I grabbed a couple of your Tabasco shots to illustrate how some people will pick a theme temporarily... they're really good. Where are you located?
Looks like you already have plenty, but I'm game if you need them. I originally started 365 to try and learn a little mire about photography, and I think I have grown some in my photography... but what 365 has come to mean to me has to do with so much more than photography. I have learned about myself, I have made some fabulous friends from around the world and as a result I have learned much about a variety of cultures and countries. This is not a photo website, but rather a community of people who enjoy taking and sharing photos... and sharing a bit of themselves.
@worthyglo : Great idea! Already lots of people interested, but if you still need people, I'd be happy to contribute!
I am french, from Bordeaux, and I started the project on the 5th february 2012. I decided first to do the 365project to learn of course, and to use more my camera... And then I realized that I wouldn't have time to give the better every day, because of my work (full time with trips) and my family (3 children), but well, I don't want to give up... and I decided that 365project is a great tool too to keep little "souvenirs" of our life on 2012... and maybe the next years! :)
So I mix photo "souvenir" with others...
Feel free to tell me if you want me to choose some shots!
And good luck for your Pecha Kucha presentation! :)
I am in if you want to use any of mine. I joined 365 on 1st January 2012 after someone on Facebook recommended it as I hope to improve on my photography skills. Good luck for your project.
WOW! Well you've got a bazillion people to choose from but in case you are still choosing you can by all means have a look at mine & get back to me if you'd like to use any?!?
This week I am featuring a series on grease spot since you are interested in themes. I use them as a way of illustrating how 365 has caused me to see art in even the most mundane subjects!
Here are three that I like more than some others.
I guess I started this project after I graduated college and had a lot of free time in between job hunting, boys, and going out at night. I found it to be a way to express my feelings for that day and communicate to the world who I am and what makes me this way. There's bad days, good days, lame days, broken hearts, tears and sweat in this project and it's my way of being vulnerable because you still have to peel through the layers to figure out what I'm actually trying to say.
Idk really
I got involved with 365 through a friend of mine who had seen some of my work and thought I might like the sight.
I viewed taking a shot a day as a major challenge and wasn't sure I was up to it, but am now on day 462 of consecutive days of taking shots without using any fillers. It's broadened my photographic horizons. I've ventured out into areas I wouldn't ever have contemplated going. I was mostly a color landscape photographer before this. Now, there's not anything that I won't at least try to photograph, even though I still might be uncomfortable about taking certain shots, like street photography.
Here's three of my favorite shots, but if you'd like to use others, then go ahead.
@worthyglo hi there. Saw a friend on Facebook post some photos and thought I would give it a try. Have been in Zambia for 4 years now and there are so many great opportunitiesfor photos it seemed like the best method to capture some of it for the future. I also liked the idea of giving people a realistic view into life and living in central Africa.
More than welcome to have a look at mine, they are mostly building shots, some macro.
I joined as I thought it was a dating website :P
No really a friend got me into it as I need a kick up the arse to take photos and this seemed like a good idea to get me shooting every day and here I am well over half way through and doing quite well I hope.
@johnnyfrs Oh John, you are a hoot! I don't know that I'd like to date anyone that I follow here! I love your pics. They have such energy. But I've been so overwhelmed by the response here and it breaks my heart to only be able to pick 8 or 9 people.
@worthyglo Feel free to check out mine! :) This is my 2nd year here, not only have I used my project to mark mile stones in my children's lives and watch them grow but to watch my photography grow as well :)
@worthyglo Houston, Texas, but I'm actually from your neck of the woods. (Born in Fort Morgan Colorado, raised in Wiggins - my family has lived in Wiggins since 1944.)
And I am rather partial to this one:

are these 3 ok?
