A new challenge / theme! (Perhaps that should be a cheme or a thallenge then?)
This was sparked off by a conversation I had with @jmrittle and his picture "What's in the corner?" but it was a little limiting so I have broadened the scope just a little.
This new cheme / thallenge or call it what you will is to be called "What Can You See...?" where the winner of the challenge will be able to add the subject of their choice. That gives folks the chance to get creative like "What can you see ... in your underwear drawer?" or whatever.
It is open to all comers so get cracking and snapping!
So I am going to start you off with "What can you see... through your front door?". Now I don't mind if you want to be truthful and give us a glimpse of what is really through your front door (some folks like to see this sort of thing because they like me are nosey!)
or whether you choose to Edit The Spit Out Of It. The choice is yours.
The only really hard and fast rule is that all shots should be taken within the timescale of the theme (i.e. today until next Thursday)
So, it is now up to you lovely folks to photograph what is through your front door in whatever manner you choose. The start date is today, Friday 28th February 2014 and the end date is midnight on Thursday 6th March 2014. I will then choose five finalists and ask you to vote until the end of Sunday 9th of March before handing on the reins to the winner. I am hoping that the winner will then come up with something innovative and exciting such as "What can you see... up the vicar's cassock" or something like that! There should be huge scope.
Don't forget to tag your shots with WCYS-1 or we won't be able to see your magnificent efforts.
Off you go and photograph that wonderful front door scenery!
Love it! And the front door is a much better start than dusty old corners. Paul, you are such a great photographer, and I will do my best. Here is my front door view: snow.
@pamknowler Thanks Pam. Just remember that when you win, you have to think of the next theme "What can you see... in that car with misted up windows?" or whatever! :o))
@pamknowler This so qualifies! The shot doesn't have to contain a door, just what you can see! That is why I love this group - so much innovation and creatively looking around the confines of the subject.
You have a much better view than I do. Mine is a plain wooden door that faces onto the windowless brick wall of the corridor (that's blocks of flats for you).
@mzzhope I put it in the description above "The start date is today, Friday 28th February 2014 and the end date is midnight on Thursday 6th March 2014. I will then choose five finalists and ask you to vote until the end of Sunday 9th of March before handing on the reins to the winner."
@steampowered I saw these 2 back in the garden this morning when I got up and looked out the front door. I was going to put the food out for the blackbirds but had to get the duck food out first!
@kathyboyles It isn't a major problem. I am cowardly enough to have wished for her to have gone to sleep at night and not woken up the next day however I know that I can't shirk my responsibility to allow her to pass with a sense of dignity. I wouldn't want to have kept her alive just for our sakes when she was starting to suffer. I still get weepy but she had a long and comfortable life which is what matters the most. I am left with lots of memories.
@miata2u Hi Peggy. Yes that is fine (as long as it is shot from a front door). You will need to tag the photograph with WCYS-1 so that it gets entered into the competition.
I won't be able to participate because I'm traveling during the dates and won't be able to upload, however want to tell how much I like this idea for the theme/challenge. Great job, Paul! @steampowered
@ikamera Never mind Kiran. It's a smashing shot and I am sure that the winner of this week's challenge will come up with something really inventive and creative for the next "What can you see..." challenge / theme.
@overalvandaan That's gorgeous Saxa!. You got your shot into the challenge in good time (entries to be in before midnight UK GMT tonight for judging and selection for voting tomorrow)
@steampowered Yes it's the front door to college where I live (I know pretty fancy - I'm just showing off now!). Although technically you could argue it's not the door to my actual room, but that's a corridor, which looks onto a fire door, pretty boring.
@steampowered I've been meaning to take this shot all week since I saw the start of your challenge because it's a pretty amazing view from a front door. Sadly it will only be my home until June once I graduate, it'll be back to some cheap flat somewhere - well until I make my millions! :)

Adorable. Sorry for your loss. Kathy
My philosophy EXACTLY. Kathy
Here's one I took last year just for fun...
I'm tired of seeing this out my front door! It's finally warmer today and there's serious melting going on.
