These Black-eyed Susans grow en masse in front of the Welcome Center of the beautiful Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. Their smiling yellow faces with big black eyes work their cheerful magic on visitors arriving to walk the trails with Mother Nature. Our journey today took us through the meadow, into the woodlands, and on to the Lotus Pond to spend some time in the lovely company of the water lilies and busy dragonflies.
With just 60 of the Garden’s 450 acres open, the project is a work in progress and labor of love for those whose vision it is to reclaim this abandoned mine land and create a space to nourish mind, body, and spirit. We are sincerely grateful for their hard work!
@milaniet Thank you, Milanie! It was so hot here today, and we haven't had rain in weeks; but these sturdy plants were holding their own. I love their vibrant color!
@cejaanderson I can imagine how pretty they look in that beautiful light you have there in the Southwest...and surrounded by dunes?...wow, I'll bet they're stunning!
