Adam has started his school holidays and wanted to go vintage clothes shopping in London. I used to buy 'vintage' when I was his age except we called it second hand. I was depressed to discover that most of the vintage shops were stocked with clothes which are 'after my time' ie post punk eighties. I satisfyingly surprised Adam by picking out much less conservative stuff than he was going for but generally failed to get him to try it on. At least the things he bought weren't expensive - ie not from this shop which has a celebrity room, 'by appointment only' - we didn't have an appointment so made do with browsing the 'cheap stuff' - eg £40 jumpers I didn't consider good enough to take to the charity shop (shrunk/worn out). Still the floor of the shoe room was pretty funky.
A huge thank you to everybody who commented and faved yesterday - it's great to have your support and it made my day!!
I cannot get myself to buy clothes that have been worn by who knows who doing who knows what! My sons think I am the weird one. RE: my supersize photo. It is Chicago - everything is big and bold there even if it is in bad taste. ;-)
@wac We found a nice stall making vintage copies (tailored in China I think) - very well done, not smelly and not expensive - that was our favourite! I could still be tempted by the 'proper' old stuff but I wouldn't have been seen dead in a lot of it first time round!
Cool floor- I used to go shopping for vintage stuff in Kensington Market before it closed down and my mum told me freeze everything i got incase it had fleas!
great shot,I hate to say it but I see all the young ones wearing the clothes I used to wear, maxi dresses, waistcoats, cheesecloth etc. all hippy stuff. Makes me feel old.
I wore it first time round and it just keeps coming back!
