It's ballgown season in Cambridge - the May Balls start tomorrow with a lavish affair at Trinity. The marquees and rides and champagne fountains have been arriving all week. The astute amongst you will have noticed that May Week is in June - that's because the revelry now takes place after the exams instead of before them (they weren't always taken quite as seriously!). To temper the partying, the 'results' boards are up at the Senate House - everybody's degree results displayed for the world to see - and even now I get a knot in my stomach when I see the students going through the gates to see how well they've done.
I've always thought that fuchsias look like party frocks. I hope I'll get chance to snap some real ones during the week though I seem to have busy evenings planned and the weather isn't going to play ball either - fingers crossed...
No the weather forecast is ugg and ugg again..hope the party people have woollen knickers they will need them....what ever happened to flaming June still stuck on those class room walls no doubt..sigh..
This just perfectly illustrates the frock thought, they are like little ballerinas !! I love to see marquees go up as it always means some ones party or wedding. We had a marquee for the last son to get married 5 years ago & I just loved it ! I will look forward to seeing some of the ball gowns hope fully !!!
I like how you used the lovely fuschia flowers to symbolize the ball gowns you hope to be seeing. Good call! Lovely photo and I'm hoping to see some lovely gowns here as well.
What a nice association - you're quite right ;). I guess it's a really exciting week in Cambridge for many students. Good things I don't have any exams anymore ;).
Lovely shot Judith!
Lovely work and lovely DOF...beautiful
