I went in to town in search of a lens hood for my camera this morning and there were gowns of all hues descending on the Senate House. I thought it was a normal graduation but Graham, my favourite Big Issue seller, told me that it was Honorary Degree day. Well that brings out the bigwigs so I killed time for a bit, shaking my head in sympathy at all the tourists peering through the railings whilst knowing that they parade along the street - a much better shot in store. Only it seems the excited French school trip actually was correct - they only paraded inside the railings this year. Of course by the time I'd worked it out the best spots were gone so this is a 'through the railings trying to miss various obstacles placed in my path' shot. I'd have loved a photo of the entire entourage but it's Prince Philip's last year as Chancellor so I should be glad I was in roughly the right place at the right time. I kept in the cameraman because he sets the scene a bit and I was really jealous of his poll position. There are no cameras allowed in The Senate House, even for relatives of graduands, but I can report that from outside the trumpeters sounded magnificent as the Prince entered and I watched both King's and St John's College choirs arriving - the music inside must have been sensational.
@parisouailleurs I've noticed all our French visitors really enjoying seeing our royal family - should have been a bit less hasty with that guillotine ;0)))
woweee! Look at him go! as you say, not bad for 90! Talk about right time and all that, a great shot and I agree, the cameraman adds another dimension. Well done you!
