After a 45 minute saga exchanging clothes in what I now refer to as 'Hellister' I went on a photo wander round town. I'd already got a few shots when I was sucked into Great St Mary's which had its tower open for visitors (as it usually does to raise funds in the summer). I'm not sure why I finally decided to go up as it wasn't a nice sunny day and I have a spiral stairs phobia but I was glad in the end because apart from two Polish men with very nice cameras I had the place to myself. I have lots of shots but chose this one first because it shows the lines of language students - classic sight on King's Parade (and, it seems, Hollister where I can report they do NOT queue to English standards). Also I really like the lady taking a picture of the Porter at the front gate. I could check out my bike from here as well - it's at the front left corner of the stripy lawn by the green man.
Massive thanks for the comments and faves on my bee pic - it gave me back some vim and vigour to take pics today.
Cambridge is my home town but I have never seen this view of Kings Parade before. Lucky you getting a birds eye view and really well captured. You are so right about the language students ...you just need to catch them three abreast on their pink hire bikes!
What an amazing shot - I also live in Cambridge (as you know... although not for that much longer) but I have never been up the tower - I may have to check it out... if I can brave the spiral stairs - not a fan either!
I agree re Hellister - it's scary in there!
Great great great picture! :-)
What a lot to see you can't take it all in at once ! You climbed the spiral staircase because you had a camera in your hand ! Great name for ''Hellister '' !!
this is an awesome Kings shot - I've always wanted to go up the tower to take pics but it's always been shut! lovely composition and love the business of the scene. Thanks for your comments on my pics - as you might expect, potential new job will still be busy, but it would be controlled busy I think, and worklife balance in general should be better, but I gotta hang tight til i get more detials. Wine is for tomorrow night when I am fully back to normal. My rule number one is never drink when in turmoil, it does weird things to your thought process and confuses things WAY to much!! LOL :o)
