Alnwick Castle was used extensively during filming of the Harry Potter movies, both using the building in its own right (flying lessons and crash landing the car for example) and sometimes as a space to create sets such as the railway carriage. They don't overdo the Harry Potter side of things but it's certainly brought in lots of extra visitors. Inside the castle (no photos allowed unfortunately) is really sumptuous and grand but also very comfortable and has recently been refurbished (including silk wall-coverings - thank you Harry!). The library has fantastic galleries and also a big TV because the Percy family who've lived here for generations move back in as soon as the visitors leave at 5pm.
Yes a must for any Harry Potter fan !! A beautiful castle & lovely that the Percy family are able to still live there !! I have always wanted to go in the tree house but haven't been back since it was finished & that was quite a long time ago ! Love your collage Judith !
Amazing that a family lives there and are forced to leave their house during opening hours!
