Anthony Gormley's 'Angel of the North'. I know he's leaning over - he's in a tight space and it was the only way of getting the wings in! Edited 'blind' on Nigel's netbook while I was away - but when I could see it I liked it!
The little people at the bottom look tiny & the angel all encompassing ! Did you snap this en route or were you actually stopped ? The wings look amazing against the sky !!!
@happypat@hown We stopped - there's a little car park. There isn't a lot of space around it but you can go down on to a football pitch to get far enough away for photos (but I didn't as we still had quite a way to drive). Howard it is 20 metres (66 ft) tall, with wings measuring 54 metres (177 ft) across - the width is the most striking thing. And apparently the wings are angled forward to form an 'embrace' - good spot Pat!!
@phil_howcroft I just couldn't see the photos properly on the screen so I tried a few things and then gae up - I hadn't realised that I'd saed this one. I was trying to keep colour in the sky as I'm sure it's blue-er up there (!) but I like the little B & W people in the end.
@hown it's huge, on a hilltop and can be seen for miles around, and those are people at the foot
great composition, really dramatic and the 'little people' give the image scale and drama. The sky is beautiful.
BTW: What's 'editing blind' ??
there are lots of gormley statues on the beach near me...I must go and photograph them sometime...
