Errr - hello there....breakfast?

I was changing my lens on Wednesday morning and had my telephoto balanced on the edge of Clare Bridge when I was dived-bombed by a flock of seagulls (not the 80's band). The balls on Clare Bridge are a Cambridge institution and the subjects of various stories. Probably the most famous (and most apocryphal) is that one was removed by students and replaced by a polystyrene mock up. The students then rolled it, with much heaving and shoving, on to a punt-load of tourists who panicked and jumped in to the river. I'm pretty sure that those balls haven't been moved for centuries.
I did take some photos today but they were a bit boring so I'm cheating. Huge thanks for the fab response to my last few photos - it's been amazing and I feel guilty as I've been short on commenting time!
Hihi, they look so out of place among those ancient balls. Don't worry about not being able to comment every day - I'm so behind nowadays I just limit myself to a few favourites for regular comments and try to pop in with the others as much as I can...

Great scene! The gulls fit perfectly with old stones

I love those round stone balls , the gracious back ground & then the cheeky seagulls dotted about, they actually look quite out of place but that's why the photo works so well !!! A sign of bad weather when they come so far inland Judith !

Beautiful. The walkway and gate to the left balances the foreground nicely

@happypat Well they are an awful long way from a trawler - maybe I looked like one!!

I adore the background and of course, the birds.

I love every thing about this picture its a fav

I always find I change my lens just at the wrong time, I see something that would be perfect for telephoto (usually a bird flying by) and I've just changed to my wide angle lens

Nice shot, love the idea of the polystyrene ball, the seagulls are trying to look very nonchalant here

@lbmcshutter Yes I was cursing - I could have had a lovely close up but had to go with the standard lens as they were rapidly realising that I didn't have a pocket full of fish.

lovely colours and textures and anachronistic seagulls

A flock of seagulls.....given their biggest hit song...they are a very appropriate band for such an experienced 365 photographer as you Judith.... :) :).....

Nice tones and textures in those stone balls !

Yes I think you chose right to include this one. Nice capture, and interesting commentary.

A really attractive shot showing the gate and college behind too.

Nice shot - and I thought you were going to tell us a Rowan Atkinson-type story about how your lens fell in the water! Glad it didn't!

@phil_howcroft Hahaa - I do my best to be topical!

Beautiful texture and colours on the balls and the birds finish the photo. Isn't there a segment missing from one of these balls? Stone mason not receiving payments so gave them an incomplete bridge!

@judithg actually I was thinking you seemed to have just the right lens for the shot!

A very pretty scene, great textures in the stone and the birds make it.

I love the colors and textures.

What a marvelous composition, Judith. The gulls look a bit like tourists...seems like they should have cameras strapped around their necks. Beautiful Cambridge elements, with the exception of the gulls, in this photo.

Wonderful textures and colors. Nicely framed.

@mejbronant That's the one the chauffeur punters tell - could be true as there is a segment missing.
