Things I've learned from 365: miserable wet day equals nice pavement reflections. Rose Crescent with bargain hunters. @helenmoss took a lovely picture just around the corner from here this time last year and I've had my eye on copying it all month! I've done very badly in the sales, partly because I can't really be bothered and partly because the shelves seem pretty empty. However, I have slightly unexpectedly (as I was looking at an Aurora Borealis trip) booked 4 nights in Marrakech during February Half Term - we can all go and get warm and exotic for the same price as one of us freezing and chewing on reindeer (though Aurora is still on my wish list one day).
Cambridge is lovely, and once again you make it look even more exotic - why would you want to go on holiday?! (haha...)
We were lucky enough to see the A.B. when we were in Iceland (the country, not the shop!) in 2006. I didn't understand cameras at all then so eventually gave up on trying to photograph it, but it's a photo that will always be in my memory!
@lluniau Hahaa - shame we can't see it in the shop! One day.... The trouble is that they are really good at the moment so everybody wants to go and the flights are very expensive.
Ah right, I see. Best wait until they become less "fashionable" then! They weren't guaranteed when we were there. We paid something like £35 for a 2 hour coach trip in the dark during which the coach "may" stop to see them (if the were there). It was a bit of a gamble, but I'm soooooo glad we took it!
sooper dooper reflections - love the tones in this - you did better than me, I could be bothered to move off the sofa! I booked a holiday too today and Aurora Borealis is on my bucket list!
I saw the AB last night on Frozen Planet programme & no wonder that holiday is popular, it was stunning ! You me & Juliette all booked holidays in the last couple of days !!!! This picture is a fave , one, because it is so glowing with light , second the wet pavement , & last but not least girls shopping & having a good time !!!
Love the intensity of oranges and sheen of reflection on pavement. Marrakech sounds lovely, but will there be rain, and are there reflections in the souks?
Brilliant reflections and excellent warm light, great shot.
Go see the Aurora Borealis it's amazing, plus you might get to drive a skidoo in the pitch black that is fun, bladdy cold though and reindeer is yummy ;-)
Yes this is wonderful with the browns/reds & gold tones! Absolutely wonderful! I am looking forward to learning more from 365'ers such as you as I further grow & learn.
beautiful judith, it does have a bit of a Dickensian feel to it........I can hear you saying......'Dickensian in 2011...are you mad Phil'....but it does Judith..I think it is the mellow lighting and refelctions :)
I agree with Phil above, It does have the olde english charm to it, wonderful capture. I did not go near the shops, no mun no fun.......Your trip sounds like heaven.
@phil_howcroft I've just been watching 'Great Expectations' - luckily this isn't that sort of Dickensian - though some of the shots in that programme are beautifully framed. See I can't watch telly any more without planning photos...
Fantastic pic! I love the colours, reflections and lights!
I've seen an A. B. in the very North of Finland, and ate reindeer, and I don't regret it! It was wonderful. I also don't like cold climates, but the cold there is different from what we have in our countries (up to -20°C was OK for me), so if you have the opportunity to go one day, just go! :-)
I've seen the AB twice in my life - and it is so spectacular and so ominous!!! Totally unexpected both times and terrifying. But beautifully so. I love the inviting warmth of the shop windows in your pic.
