I really wanted somebody walking or cycling down the street here but they kept kindly walking away so they didn't spoil my shot! I think the spire at the end is part of Gonville and Cauis. One of my favourite streets actually - I'll take one where you can see it sometime (!) but the sun was a fleeting and unexpected visitor on the cobbles. I tried cloning out the shiny spots on the silhouette but then I put them back in.
Very effective photo. Fantastic use of the light. Thanks for your comments. The Bethlehem visit is a very tough one as I just can't get my head around the customs and values that lead a society to throw children away. It really is heartbreaking. I generally don't do these visits as part of an official delegation, but I organise my own programme of visits and I'm trying to encourage people to get involved with volunteering. Especially partners of people in the diplomatic community as they tend not to work and to have some time they can use. My website is http://volunteeringinisrael.shutterfly.com/
@cgould Very interesting site and a great idea. It's really hard to start volunteering when you don't know which activity to commit too. A lot of the charities in Cambridge have very high standards for volunteers and make stringent demands so you have to know you want to do it. Having taster activities is a great idea. Hope you get lots of volunteers - I'd come if I were nearer!!
I LOVE this POV -- and the lighting makes it a FAV for me
I took many shots like this when we traveled last summer. Think of the history under your feet :)
I have a cobble stone driveway which is very hard to shovel when it snows.
