The winter wheat is looking much healthier this year than last. It's already taller than it reached last year in the drought and it's showing no sign of 'flowering' (is that what wheat does?) yet. So it's appreciating all the rain we've had even if Monty and I were less than impressed by the hailstone shower we were caught in.
Lots of shoulder pain of late so it's been iPhone time for photos....
It was a lovely surprise to find 'A nice surprise' on the PP this week - thanks very much folks!!
An appearance by Monty is always a treat as I've been dog deprived myself for quite a while. And this photo and title made me LOL. Sorry to hear about your shoulder. My back is giving me trouble - only feel fine when walking a lot or sleeping. Sitting on chair at work not so good.
I love that lob sided smile of Montys ...& he looks to be having a good chew !! This looks a very healthy field of wheat considering you haven't had much rain in your part of the world Judith. Winter wheat is still harvested in late summer but gets itself well established before the winter sets in so it is a much stronger plant & has the benefit of the winter rains. The ears of wheat will appear as it gets riper but not sure if they call that flowering. Love your title !!
@meisen325 There's an answer to that - retirement! Bad backs are definitely worse than bad shoulders though. I'm counting down the days to the specialist...I must say the new automatic car is a godsend though.
@happypat WInter was very dry and I took a photo of a field of wheat with huge cracks in the ground in February but it seems to have made up for it with the last couple of months' deluges.
Gorgeous green and Monty is a laugh and a half. Boy you must be so discouraged re your shoulder. Did you ever read Jean Shinoda Bolen's book about her middle aged shoulder isse? Cat think what it was called but much of it resonated for me when I was in that age range rather than being an " old person"
Made me laugh so much. My dog used to do this. Great capture of him. Have been away and just been looking at your back photos, its nice to see such an array or different shots. Sorry your shoulder is not much better.
I just love his expression, it's so funny. I hope your shoulder improves soon. I don't know what treatment you've been getting for it but have you considered a regular massage? xx
@caddick No he was right on the edge - we met a farmer the other day who was playing hell about a big labrador rampaging through his rape fields - its not on when the plants are at the trampling stage.
Instant favourite. I've just had two days of dog sitting and he would run through similar fields chomping on all 'his greens'. Lovely photo...handsome dog
