I negotiated a crowd on an official walking tour to take this shot at the entrance to the Cavendish Laboratory this afternoon. The questioner had a customer and had ducked inside the door but it got me thinking. What do I find important? Some things the same and some things different to 20 or 30 years ago.
1. Family
2. Fairness
3. Some sort of creative endeavour......
Maybe when I think harder I'll think of other things. It's a psychological study not a philosophical one so I don't know what they were looking for. Several members of 365 will sympathise with the transcribing and analysis of answers that will be required! What do you find important?
Interesting question - aside from the obvious (OH & our health), it would probably be the stuff we are fortunate enough to currently take for granted - a roof over our heads, power, heat, light, food.
I don't think my mind ever completely settled after a long conversation about what we would do if the power went out for a long time (like a week or so).
I think the most important things are what money cannot buy ,I remember I had an autograph book when I was about 10 and my Nanny wrote " I wish you happiness .I wish you wealth, but most of all I wish you health.
@snowy I have always thought the same but in short version - health, wealth and happiness but always puzzle about the order. I think wealth would be last of the 3, but which way round to put health and happiness. And where does love fit in? @tishpics I agree - if you have love then you can deal with everything else - but maybe the love needs to be reciprocal, otherwise it causes heartbreak which is no fun. And then I think , what about kindness. If everyone is kind to each other, does everything else follow?? Good question, university of Cambridge!! and thanks for posting Judith!
Honesty and truthfulness which means invariably I end up a little disappointed, yet havenot given up on my idealism. I agree with your three, but would probably add in the capacity for free thinking which underpins creative endeavors to some degree.
A very thought-provoking image. I'd have to say family, friends, health and a good balance between contentment and the urge to change, grow and improve.
@jannaellen@happypat I like your contentment answers - I had been feeling I should be striving for something - and I hope I've still got the urge to grow and improve as well (though I'd like to shrink around the waist.)
Oh, I had missed this. Good question. At the moment this is what I can think of: access to good healthcare, human connections, my party in the White House, financial security, the ability (physical and otherwise) to travel. Also, my new walk-in closet, having my own bathroom (insures marital harmony), and always having fresh flowers in the house, because my mother did.
Only just caught up with this...I think I would have to put health at the top, having known some bad times, I feel that if I feel well, I can deal with anything!! Well then there is love....of all kinds...:-)
