Bicycle Frame by judithg

Bicycle Frame

I didn't have a lot of time out with Monty today but I did have a very specific shot in mind for the 'On the move' theme. It required a specific type of bike in a specific place with the right people going past. The only place I got close was near a nice Big Issue seller who was keen to chat about and to Monty and every time the necessary scene materialised he started chatting again. Well I can't suddenly decide that I don't like chatting to Big Issue sellers so I gave up and tried some other things. It was a lot of fun trying out panning (though thank goodness digital is free because the attrition rate is about 99.5%!) I have one I'm rather pleased with that will appear tomorrow. In this shot I was messing about trying to get a nice autumn leaf in focus and the bikes out of focus in the background. One thing about my Canon that I don't like compared with my Lumix is that it faffs about for ages working out where it's going to focus (maybe I should change to spot focus?) and squatting at a busy junction with dog in one hand was not the time I needed it to start playing up. Anyway in the end it did me a favour because it decided to focus in the distance. Of course I'm wishing for a millisecond earlier to get both girls fully inside the wheel but really I'm just excited to have got a new angle on the ubiquitous bike shot.
Three good things:
1. Having a shot I like in the bag for tomorrow.
2. Adam both averting a major coursework crisis and texting me to tell me.
3. Mad book club friends who are reading my 365 project as the 'non-fiction' text for the next meeting. I feel very exposed but 'Hello ladies!'

And if there had only been one person it would have been better... http://365project.org/judithg/extras/2012-10-10
LOVE this! :-)

Excellent mrs, excellent.
The wheel acts like a giant magnifying glass.

That is really something new - what a nicely-timed shot! I'm sure the book club ladies are having a really good read ;). Can't wait to see the panning tomorrow!

Oh yes great theme shot and a new take on bike! What a fab theme choice it was :-). (made at 5.30 am whilst travelling from check in desk to gate - imaginative)

@fueast I was actually bigging you up at lunchtime when there were bikes bombing around all over - high five!! But make the most of this praise - next time you beat me in a competition it gets serious....

Nice one :) Is there a chance the clock on your camera is an hour out and you were actually in that area at 1.45ish? If so I think I saw you and Monty, but wasn't sure and didn't want to approach someone completely randomly!

Brilliant shot Judith - fav. I wish I could be so creative but when I'm out with my camera I forget about all the different creations by other people and just enjoy being at one with nature. Everything else goes out of my head!

@katharinehubbard Were you photographing the 'Avoid' sign on the drain pipe?! I did wonder if it was you as there was something very 365 about you I thought! I didn't realise myk was out - not worth changing now! You should have taken the mad woman getting in the way of the cyclists whilst failing to control dog. Damn - well we'll know next time!! I didn't realise my clock was out - not worth changing now!

Oh, you did wonderful with this! I really like it, & having one person slightly off center, makes it so authentic, so unstaged. Beautiful!
October 11th, 2012
Love them both! This one - because it's real and in the moment - and the edited one, because it does give it extra pop!
