First of all HUGE thanks for all of those lovely votes in the theme competition! It looks like a close call so @fueast better hadn't get too excited about a free beer just yet. Also thanks for your well wishes on the headache front which did actually lay me out completely for a while but it improved today.
It's a miserable wet afternoon here but I had a surprisingly enjoyable walk with Monty. It wasn't cold and there are some great last-blast colours about including here at the bicycle racks at Churchill College. I did adjust the aperture to get the leaves in focus but then there were raindrops on my lens which I couldn't see because of the raindrops on my glasses. Not quite the vintage bike look I was after but for once I didn't have much choice.
Three good things:
1. My horrible headache has diminished to mild nagging.
2. Being back inside on a wet afternoon.
3. Who wrote, 'When does one begin to remember? When do the waving lights and shadows of dawning consciousness cast their print upon the mind of a child?' Very easy as a large clue in the blurb above!!
OK I added my vote since you took the beer suggestion seriously! Hope you've got a theme ready in case you win. Nice basket, creeper combo. No idea about the quote. UNless it was Churchill?
@fueast@meisen325 Beers all round for literary knowledge then! I read his autobiography ages ago and enjoyed it I seem to remember (The Early Years one - I'm sure he probably wrote a later years one but I haven't read that one if he did).
@fueast Hmmm - you're quick off the mark - I haven't won yet!! 2 possible themes but I've been toying with them for 18 months and never got close to needing them so I'm not holding my breath!
I love bikes but even more when they have beautiful wicker baskets attached, mine is a horrible wire one!!!!! Not quite the same I fear somehow!!! Glorious, glorious Virginia Creeper !
Glad your headache is better & reduced to a mere nag...I can go weeks with out one & then get one that lasts for days. Churchill of course!!!
Love this shot ~ so autumnal and collegiate.
Sir Winston Churchill wrote at least two memoirs dealing with WWI and WWII. I forget the titles, just remember reading them years ago. I don't know if they are considered sequels to "My Early Life"...but they did deal with later years. Incredibly fascinating man.
So glad your headache is improving. That's one pain that is unfamiliar to me. I can imagine it is just awful.
