At the workshop

I used to take this hanging half bike regularly in Year 1 but it never quite made the album. It used to have a slightly sad looking cuddly monkey in its basket but I think it must finally have bitten the dust. Today I couldn't resist the lovely sunshine on Queen's College building in the background. Shame about the heavy shadow but I had to scramble behind the dustbins to take this and I couldn't find a way to avoid it.
Three good things:
1. Ticked off a few admin jobs
2. The nice lady at the council is going to let me off the parking ticket (I think)
3. Richard III has been found under a car park. A very satisfying history-science combo story today.
That's cool!

I love this capture Judith - sums Cambridge up really. Lovely bright day today, and this is evident in your photo. Yes amazing about Richard III. One of the archaeologists is the son of a couple in our next village. How have you squeaked out of your ticket?
February 4th, 2013
Ha ha its like a Harry Potter bike. Cool. How do they know its Richard III. I feel suspicious...
February 4th, 2013
@streetlyend I called up very contritely and said I'd put it in the right way up but it was very windy on Thursday and she said, 'Oh it must have blown over'. Which is what happened (well I think it was sort of standing up when I left it but the car shaking must have sent it over) and I have sent in a scan of the ticket. Nigel kept saying how did they know somebody else hadn't given me the ticket etc but I pointed out that as they hadn't she was quite right to trust me!!! Glad he's not in charge.

@fueast Arrow in his scoliosis back, holes in his head, carbon dating and (from what I can gather) mitochondrial DNA - I'm going with it!
February 4th, 2013
The things one finds lying around in Oxford car parks!!!
February 4th, 2013
@ruthmouch Leicester - has CNN romanticised it?!
February 4th, 2013
Love it - I'm half expecting to find the other half behind the wall!
February 4th, 2013
Bicycles abound in your world!
February 4th, 2013
@judithg oh they're fighting over him now....
February 4th, 2013
Such a great sight! Deserves lots of shots! And love the warmth of the background. Oh yes, I do believe it was Richard, going to be buried in Leicester Cathedral I think. Very exciting!
February 4th, 2013
I think this is the ET bike......finally landed on a wall near you! I'm glad others are excited about old Richard.....fancy finding him after all this time....love to be one of those descendants!
February 4th, 2013
Love your half a bike shot. I need a bicycle for the challenge in a day or so................So I'm now watching for cyclists. The Richard III story has made the Spanish newspaper already!

Tim
Well done for getting off the parking ticket. 500 yrs in a car park how much does Richard owe?? Great image Judith love the way it is almost silhouetted against the lovely building behind.
February 4th, 2013
You can find a bike shot anywhere. Fab! :)
February 4th, 2013
I like how dark the bike it. You are good at finding bicycles!
February 4th, 2013
Looks like E.T. should be in the basket.
February 4th, 2013
Terrific shot, I'm glad it finally made it to your page! The warm light behind it is great, and I think the shadow keeps my attention focused on the bike-front and stops me from veering off out of the frame.

I hadn't heard about Richard III yet, I skipped the news this morning. I need to catch up!

Nice POV

Another great Cambridge bike shot. Hope your kind lady will not change her mind - I was let off once on West Road when the ticket had fallen off the wet windscreen on a very damp day - not so lucky when I arrived back at my car no more then five minutes late to be told by the traffic warden "I've started so I have to finish"!
February 4th, 2013
@timrox Good job it's not a Cambridge carpark - he'd have to sell his crown.
February 4th, 2013
Would this be classed as a unicycle?
February 4th, 2013
It reminds me of the ET bike also. Lovely. Going to watch the channel 4 prog on rich III at 9.
February 4th, 2013
We are hearing about Richard over here now! Poor guy - must have had a sad life! Love those mullioned windows!
February 4th, 2013
@maggiemae Oooh I don't know - I think he was a bit of a wrong'un - will have to watch that programme now @welshgirl has given me the tip off and find out!
February 4th, 2013
This is awesome! Never seen it! :O
February 4th, 2013
@tports You have to be sober leaving The Anchor....
February 4th, 2013
I really like the half bike (and the fabulous brickwork) presumably on a bike shop - or is that too obvious? Exciting news about Richard
February 4th, 2013
I wish we had a half bike handing somewhere. Cool view - RIP monkey! ;)
February 4th, 2013
@malc Repair shop - we do obvious!
February 4th, 2013
Oh he was the one that ---- the Little Princes?
February 4th, 2013
Never noticed this before. Looks to be coming out of a window
February 4th, 2013
@maggiemae Yes - though it's possible that Shakespeare made him worse than he was!
February 4th, 2013
the lengths your go to to get a bike shot ..just returning that one i remember your coments on my last project :) fabulous and im with you on Richard lll
February 4th, 2013
I am under the impression that Shakespeare did exaggerate somewhat!!However so clever and very exciting and just as exciting is a unicycle!! Love it
February 4th, 2013
@fannyb @fueast And definitely him because there was an 'R' above him in the car park... Don't know why they bothered with the science. That facial reconstruction lady has my dream job. The original inventor of that technique worked in the Medical School in Manchester when I was doing my Biochemistry degree in there but I didn't know. I've spent the rest of my life wishing I'd turned up and made him take me on!!
February 4th, 2013
Lovely bike shot, a great take on the norm! I think we got some Sun today but I only saw it from behind glass! Lol to the Shakespeare comments, I'm sure RIII wasn't that bad!
February 4th, 2013
Great shot.
February 4th, 2013
@judithg I'm a respectable student, I'm always sober...
February 4th, 2013
Oh, I had heard about poor ol' Dick being found a couple of months ago. I guess now the news is the positive id.
February 5th, 2013
An old bike shop maybe?! Great
February 5th, 2013
What a great looking display. It kind of plays tricks with your eyes. I was trying to find the rest of the bike. LOL Very cool capture.
February 5th, 2013
Just saw a story about Richard III on the evening news... that is exciting!
February 5th, 2013
great find on this one
February 5th, 2013
Now that's a new view on a bicycle! Glad it made it to posting
February 5th, 2013
Fabulous bike find, Judith. Love the contrast of the silhouette of the bike against the light and texture of the brick wall.
February 5th, 2013
cool spot
February 5th, 2013
Great find with the bike!
February 5th, 2013
I remember this bike so well - I always passed it on the way to university. Glad it finally made the project ;)! Too bad about the monkey though, I do remember him, too.
February 5th, 2013
Well half a bike is better than none lol
February 5th, 2013
Fun bicycle shot and I love the window detail in the background. I'm intrigued by the Richard III mention...will have to Google that story as I haven't heard anything about that. Wonder if Jimmy Hoffa could be there with him??
February 5th, 2013
Quite a different take on your usual bike shots. Great image.
February 5th, 2013
@peggysirk Only if there was a 'J' written on a car park space. (There was an R on the space above Richard). Great documentary about it - completely bonkers people who were also, bizarrely, correct and a great moment when the bone expert puts her pick axe through Richard's skull!!
February 5th, 2013
Just read an article about yesterday's announcement of the remains being positively identified. Fascinating science. And perhaps poor Richard is now feeling less discontentment.
February 5th, 2013
the background is perfect for your bike judith, the sunlit walls really emphasise the bike contours.
The local press and Leicester Uni' have been getting very excited in the East Mids about Richard III and his car park. Last nights news was 'live coverage' of the days events !
February 5th, 2013
So is this attached to the wall? Can't quite work it out but that's what I'm assuming! It's a great shot however the bicycle's attached. Good news about the ticket xx
February 7th, 2013
@psychographer Yes - he has a bracket and it goes up when the shop is open.
February 7th, 2013
this is brillent
February 8th, 2013
Oh I love this. Fabulous bike and super buildings in the background!
